Jozan forest lies about 35km southeast of Zanzibar township in Zanzibar’s south region. It the only remaining natural forest in Unguja island which along with pemba make up the island of Zanzibar.
The forest which covers an area of 10sq km consist of the woodland swap forest and evergreen forest. It provides an important refuge for the remaining unguja fauna as the rare red colobus monkeys, small Zanzibar leopards and two antelopes Spices: the Zanzibar ducker and Sunni.
